Varsity Calgary – Office Renovation

As part of this home renovation, our clients asked for a dedicated office space in the basement—one that felt warm, open, and inspiring. While there’s a separate room in the home for a full woodworking shop, the client also wanted a clean and functional area where he could focus on office tasks, planning, and creative thinking.

We saw this as a great opportunity to design a space that not only served a practical purpose but also reflected his passion for woodworking. The design is rooted in a contemporary, minimal aesthetic with clean lines and understated finishes, allowing the beauty and character of the wood to take center stage. Every detail was chosen to celebrate craftsmanship and simplicity, creating a workspace that feels grounded, personal, and thoughtfully designed.

The result is a calm and inviting office that supports productivity while honouring the client’s love for working with his hands—a space where inspiration flows just as easily as focus.

“Maria listened carefully and studied our inspiration photos to understand our vision. Then she put her creative and ‘Uniik’ designs into a plan for us. Her 3D schematic drawings were excellent and helped us visualize our goal as the project progressed. When it came time to choose hard surfaces, finishes and furniture Maria met us at the showrooms to help us make our choices. She took the lead to give us our desired look and feel, while managing color, texture and the flow from room to room. While she was respectful of our preferences, she used her expertise to steer us in the right direction to achieve the look/function we were wishing for.”
