Strathcona Residence

This project was a main floor renovation we completed for our client’s in the community of Strathcona in Calgary, Alberta. The clients were really frustrated with the kitchen space, it was not functional and old. They wanted to update their main floor too as it was traditional style with lots of red and green colours. They really liked the mid century modern style, walnut, and the colour blue. The clients wanted a more functional kitchen and overall better layout for their main floor space. We started with determining the perfect design concept and designing a floor plan that had a better flow through the kitchen and main floor. We went with a modern clean design that let the material speak. The pop of blue is a great contrast against the black and off white colours. The overall space has a much better flow. The kitchen layout was extended for more storage. The kitchen island and dining room table became one to extend the kitchen and also provide more seating. In the living room we moved their existing fireplace that separated the kitchen and living room against an exterior wall with floating shelves. Once we moved the fireplace we had a much better flow between the kitchen and living room. We also designed a fun and functional powder room for their main floor. We believe powder rooms should be a gem in your home and be a unique experience for you and your guests! We are extremely happy with how this design turned out! I truly defines our client’s personality and lifestyle.
